Is My Church A "Christian" Cult?

Updated: Aug 31
Typical expected traits of a “Christian” cult.
They don’t want you to use common sense and be an independent thinker.
Please read to the end.
Undeniable Cultish Practices And Behaviors.
1. The leader is exalted above Christ and the Bible. His or her picture is on the big tv screen. His or her name is spoken more than Christ. People say flattering things about them to praise them and not Christ.
Their followers will bow and worship them and not be corrected to not worship them. They’ll misuse Scripture but they don’t care since you don’t study the Word for yourself anyway.
2. The leader must be protected at all cost. Even with armed security. Their supporters will circle the wagons and suppress any outside investigations.
3. The repetition of dire warnings against hearing or seeing anything that’s detrimental to the leader’s ministry. “Touch not Mine anointed and do My prophets no harm” or "Don't put your mouth on the prophet" is a commonly used spiritual manipulative phrases used as a tactic to suppress any investigation of the leader.
4. Blindly financially supporting the leader and their ministry. You don’t know where your money is going and you don’t care to inquire for fear.
5. Questioning anything about what you’ve seen (senseless financial issues and sexual immorality) as a red flag is prohibited. The closer you get, the more you'll see what's really going on.
6. No Transparency. When they say “I got nothing to hide,” they have something to hide.
7. Credible outside investigators are shunned.
8. Things that happen often won't make sense but you deny you’ve seen it and you won’t report it for fear.
9. Handlers keep in constant contact with you to keep you in line.
10. Isolate you from your family and friends, prohibiting any contact with them, especially justifiably “nosey” folk.
11. If you walk away, you’ve sinned against the leader, not God and you’ll be warned that you’d be excommunicated and condemned to hell.
12. YouTubers that credibly expose the leader and its ministry with truthful unrehearsed testimony of 2 or 3 witnesses are mocked, ridiculed, and lambasted as people sowing discord among the brethren.
13. When a leader is finally confronted, they give excuse after excuse, expecting you to be so overwhelmed with their charm and personality that you fear continuing your inquiry.
Everything named “Christian” isn’t Christlike when bad fruit falls from a bad tree.
Stop eating bad fruit and you’ll stop getting sick.
Vital steps you must take to stop being in denial about your "Christian" cult and their leaders that hides behind the name "Christian."
Know The Gospel Of Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NKJV) "For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures..."
Galatians 1:6-9 (NKJV) "I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed."
Search The Scriptures For Yourself.
Acts 17:10-12 (NKJV) "Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews.
These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.
Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men."
Avoid Deceivers.
2 Timothy 3:13 (NKJV) "But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived."
Acts 20:29-30 (NKJV) "For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves."
Acts 5:34-37 (NKJV) "Then one in the council stood up, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law held in respect by all the people, and commanded them to put the apostles outside for a little while.
And he said to them: “Men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what you intend to do regarding these men.
For some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody. A number of men, about four hundred, joined him. He was slain, and all who obeyed him were scattered and came to nothing.
After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the census, and drew away many people after him. He also perished, and all who obeyed him were dispersed."
Test All Things And Their Teachers.
1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 (NKJV) "Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil."
1 John 4:1 (NKJV) "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world."
Know Their Fruit.
Matthew 7:15-20 (NKJV) “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them."
Mark Them, Name Them, Warn Others Of Them, And Avoid Them.
Romans 16:17-18 (NKJV) "Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple."
2 John 1:7-11 (NKJV) "For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.
Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the King Son.
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds."
Don't Believe Everything They Say.
INVESTIGATE, BE SKEPTICAL, EXERCISE SCRUTINY, QUESTION THEM.
Proverbs 14:15-16 (NKJV) "The simple believes every word, but the prudent considers well his steps."
They'll Sneak In And Blend In With The Unsuspecting.
2 Peter 2:12-14 (NKJV) But these (false prophets and teachers), like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption, and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime.
They (false prophets and teachers) are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you, having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls.
They (false prophets and teachers) have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children."
Jude 1:3-4 (NKJV) "Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.
For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ."
Expose Them.
Ephesians 5:10-18 (NKJV) "...finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.
Therefore He says:
“Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light.”
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit..."
Guard Your Heart & Your Emotions.
Proverbs 4:23 (NKJV) "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life."
The goal is to steal, kill, and destroy the sheep. To get you to walk away from Christ, get you to return to the world, and end up in hell.
Run from anything and everything that's not of Christ.
