Christmas. A Non Biblical Tradition

It’s not a mandate from the Bible to celebrate Christmas. Cutting to the chase, we don’t have any verifiable proof of the actual date of Christ’s birth. It’s a man made tradition. The Lord told us in Genesis 3:15 how the Lord would deliver man from sin.

“And I will put enmity

Between you and the woman,

And between your seed and her Seed;

He shall bruise your head,

And you shall bruise His heel.”

The early church fathers concentrated on the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Christ to redeem man from sin and to repent of sin to avoid the wrath of God. This takes nothing away from the actual account of the birth of Christ recorded in Matthew and Luke’s account.

Without the birth of Christ, we can’t be saved from sin.

What’s happened is that man made it a tradition in the 4th century to celebrate His birth. What’s also important to point out is that man has a nasty habit of turning a factual occurrence and make it obscure the real intent of the Father.

What’s happened since?

Commercializing the day. Gifts. Trees. Ornaments and other events.

Much like Easter. It’s commercialized. New outfits. Bunny rabbits. Easter egg hunts.

By the way, Easter is a day to worship a goddess and fertility,

The Lord warned Israel not to make and gods or to have other gods before Him (see Exodus 20:2-4). When the people of God alter the focus, it’s designed that way to draw our attention away from sin and redemption.

You will not stop people from engaging in tradition.

“But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written:

“As I live, says the LORD,

Every knee shall bow to Me,

And every tongue shall confess to God.”

So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.“

So we should never condemn people that observe traditions and condemn people that don’t observe tradition.

Paul said in Romans 14:5….

“One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind.”

If one calls it a pagan holiday, they just can’t say that it is unless they have undeniable evidence that pagan activity is going on. Idol worship is easy to spot. If it’s a tradition that isn’t Biblical and has no evidence of idol worship, it’s a person’s choice to participate in the event or not. And they shouldn’t be condemned or judged.

But you’re not going to stop people from condemning people.

I’m learning not to bother. Let people do what they feel in their heart to do.

But shouldn’t we warn people? About what? A tradition or idol worship?

As believers, we’re not God but when we see a danger, we’re obligated to warn people of idol worship.

Christmas is a man made tradition with no obligation to participate.

If people believe that you should or shouldn’t participate, it’s up to you.

You’re not going to hell if you participate in a tradition or if you refuse to participate.
