I DON'T RECEIVE THAT! Debunked

WOF charismatics teaches that you can rebuke everything in Jesus' name. If you receive a bad report, you say "I don't receive it," and it goes away.

WOF charismatics call everything "it's the devil" when it could be just natural age progression or a premature failure of certain organs based on a number of factors, known or unknown to us.

There's a lot of things that I don't want to receive but it happens, if we're truly honest about it.

"I don't receive that" is based on Mark 11:22-24 (NKJV) "So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart,

but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them."

And...

Proverbs 18:20-21 (NKJV)

"A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth;

From the produce of his lips he shall be filled.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,

And those who love it will eat its fruit."

The late Fred Price of Crenshaw Christian Center in Calfornia, received the "jab" but died of COVID-19, once said "You can speak life to your life or death to your life."

No doubt, it didn't work for Fred Price.

Incidently, Betty Price, Fred's wife, had cancer and she is still alive to this date. She did a combination of prayer and medicine. Same thing with John Osteen's wife. John, the late pastor of Lakewood Church now led by his son, Joel, died of a heart attack and Dodie Osteen had survived cancer until see died. Dodie Osteen also did a combination of prayer and medicine.

You see, we don't have blanket authority against sickness and disease as they teach this. What we do have is God intervening in the affairs of men as He chooses.

It's also a part of the false teaching of The Believer's Authority based on Luke 10:17-20 (NKJV).

"Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

So if the Word says, "...and nothing shall by any means hurt you," what did the Lord Jesus actually mean by it?

When you're casting out devils in a person, the devils will not hurt you.

Now with the 7 sons of Sceva in Acts 19, the demons hurt them because the sons decided to cast them out by using the name of Jesus without being in Christ. The demons know who's in Christ and who isn't in Christ.

The error of teaching the people "I don't receive it in Jesus' name" is clear when you have in your body a sickness or disease. If it's already there, you've received it. Or if you're going through a financial struggle or you've lost your job or your marriage is going crazy.

A quick word about marriage. One reason why there's friction between couples is because they've forgetten to be Christians and they become headstrong against each other. They gave place to the devil (see Ephesians 4:27) instead of giving place to the love of God, becoming angry, self centered, proud, and arrogant.

Could it be stopped by using the name of Jesus? We've seen instances where this is possible and we've instances where it was their time to die.

The Sovereign will of God is always the primary factor. No one overrides His explicit will.

We have seen with Hezekiah that he prayed and an extention of his life was granted.

Isaiah 38:1-5 (NKJV) "In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the LORD: Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.’”

Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD, and said, “Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

And the word of the LORD came to Isaiah, saying, “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years."

The recovery was a combination of the supernatural sign and laying a remedy on Hezekiah (see Isaiah 38:6-22).

The key now is to understand that the illness has been discovered and you take steps to deal with the illness. If sin opened the door for sickness and or disease, you close the door by sinning no more.

If it was neglecting living healthy, you take steps to correct it.

If you're living right and living a healthy lifestyle but the devil attacked you and the symptoms are there, you take steps both naturally and spiritually to address the issue.

In John chapter 5, after the Lord Jesus healed a man at the pool of Bethesda (meaning house of mercy or flowing water), the Lord told the man that was lame for 38 years to "Go and sin no more lest a worst thing comes upon you." This indicates that sin will open the door to consequential judgment on a person for committing sins against God.

Romans 1:27 (NKJV)

"Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due."

So homosexuals "received" consequential judgment as "the penalty of their error..."

If you haven't done any sin but you received an illness report, just go have it checked and double checked, and then take the necessary actions to mitigate the disease. Christians don't have blanket immunity against sickness and disease by declaring that "I don't receive it in Jesus' name," especially when it's discovered in your body anyway.

This false doctrine was called "The Invincibility of the Believer." "Invincibility means being impossible to defeat, overcome, or harm."

Well doesn't 1 John 4:4 tell us that we overcome them? Have you ever studied the entire text? It's not talking about sickness and disease but false prophets called antichrists (see 1 John 2:18-19 and 2 John 1:7) controlled by demons.

Well doesn't it say in Romans 8:37 that we're more than conquerors through Him that loved us? What is it that Paul declares about being more than conquerors about?

Persecutors.

Well what about in Revelation 12:11 that we "...overcome them by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony?"

"Context. Context. Context."

The rest of that verse says, "...and they loved not their lives even unto death."

So Revelation 12:11 is about Israelites that came into Christ and the church being persecuted. Not about sickness, disease, and personal circumstances that's covered in Matthew 6 and Philippians 4.

Usually, the smart Christian will go to the doctor and get it checked out early enough to deal with it through prayer, medicine, or both. Chances are, you'll do both.

It's just plain wisdom, not foolishness.

When we don't see as clear as we used to when you were young, we go to the ophthalmologist or hospital with lab instruments for diabetic patients to get our eyes checked. Those diagnosed with diabetes will definitely get their eyes checked every year because you could lose your sight if it's not treated early enough.

Or it may be nothing but an age progression issue, requiring an anual eye examination and prescription glasses. You're just getting older, not younger.

To say that you're not sick when you have a sickness and or a disease is disingenuous.

It's an outright denial of a pertinent issue that requires imperative treatment.

It's no problem to say that you have the illness and then to say but I'm trusting in God to heal me either by prayer, the doctors, or both. Saying it this way doesn't affect your complete confidence that God will help you in the time of trouble.

James 5:14-16 (NKJV) says, "Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.

And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.

The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."
